Padel ball has become such a rage that superyacht owners are installing $250,000 modular courts on their vessels

You cannot take a ship to a padel court, but you certainly can take a padel court to a superyacht now, thanks to British company Shipyard Supply Co. Its wide range of high-quality deck equipment has been joined by yet another impressive amenity: a modular padel court. It was developed at the request of a seasoned yacht owner of an under-construction 360-footer. Let’s not forget that SSCo’s padel court is modular and will find a home in most ships. Thanks to its self-supporting structure, one does not need a dedicated space for the padel court with sockets and poles. The vital deck space can be used temporarily for a game of padel ball and can be accommodated on different yacht layouts such as the bow or helipad.

Lamborghini recently announced a limited edition padel racquet.

“We believe that being on the water shouldn’t restrict the choice of sports available, and we always strive to be one step ahead of the game,” SSCo CEO Josh Richardson said in a statement. “Having extensively designed, engineered, and tested this system, we are confident in offering it to all superyachts.” This easy-to-install and pack padel ball court comes with a sleek carbon frame and a mix of Plexiglass and mesh panels. It is sturdy but not heavy, making it ideal to take on a sea-faring sojourn. Moreover, it is incredibly easy to assemble and pack down, and owing to the flat panels, the court can be easily stored in the tender garage or storage rooms.

The Aviva is the only yacht in the world to have a padel court. The 223 feet long vessel is built around a padel court.

“Our Padel Court features custom-designed elements tailored to the unique challenges of maritime environments,” adds SSCo technical manager Richard Clements. “From specialized materials to innovative engineering solutions, every aspect of the court has been carefully crafted to ensure optimal functionality and durability.” If superyachts can have basketball courts and golf courses, then why not Padel, which is one of the fastest-growing sports on the planet? The game is enjoyed by over 25 million players in over 90 countries. British Billionaire and Tottenham Hotspur soccer club owner 86-year-old Joe Lewis loved padel tennis so much he had the $250 million superyacht, Aviva, built around the court. If only he knew of the nifty free-standing structure worth approximately $254,000.
