NHL goalie-turned-billionaire Patrick Dovigi may have enthusiastically purchased Bill Gates’ hydrogen-powered superyacht for $650 million+. But to write the nine-figure check, the Canadian first had to sell his 377-foot-long, family-focused superyacht, AHPO, to a mystery buyer.

Superyacht Ahpo is a luxury vessel that’s as much about its grandeur, features, and fixtures as it is about her owners. And speaking of owners, this Lürssen beauty, delivered in 2021, has a new one. The 377-footer has now found her third custodian in just four years, as former owner Canadian billionaire Patrick Dovigi sold this 5,257 GT ship to move on to an even larger boat, Breakthrough.

Since buying her in May 2023 for $362 million, Dovigi renamed her Lady Jorgia in what became the biggest brokerage deal of that year. Now, only two years later, the Ahpo yacht has exchanged hands yet again (after being listed for $370 million).

The ship, originally owned by billionaire Michael Lee-Chin, departed from La Ciotat at the start of the month, a sure sign the deal had already been sealed, and is now berthed at Marina Fiera Genova, Italy, according to Marine Traffic. As is often the case, she appears to have undergone a refit before being delivered to her new owner.

Yet despite changing hands, Ahpo has always remained remarkably consistent. Each owner has resisted the urge to alter her essence, preserving her timeless appeal. Even Dovigi retained sentimental details, such as a table engraved with a map of Jamaica as a homage to the first owner’s heritage. The name itself, too, reverted to Ahpo, an affectionate term meaning grandmother, timed with the original owner’s mother’s 89th birthday in December 2021. Whether this latest buyer will uphold that tradition or leave a personal mark is something only time will tell.

he Ahpo has also ruled the upper tier of the charter market, commanding $3 million per week in the Mediterranean. Now, with another new owner and the possibility of further tweaks, it’s worth taking a fresh look at what makes Ahpo so innately fascinating.

Could Ahpo stand for Allure of the high seas in pure opulence?

Six decks, a host of amenities, and a succession of high-profile owners later, her pedigree of design and extravagance remains unchanged, the hallmark of a Lürssen build. The Caribbean-style family yacht boasts both exterior and interior by Nuvolari Lenard, who ensured equal attention was devoted to indoor and outdoor living spaces. If the owner’s duplex with two terraces makes jaws drop, it is matched in wonder by the signature glass-wrapped aft winter garden, a space where the owners reportedly spend much of their time.

Sixteen guests are accommodated in eight grand suites. For fitness enthusiasts, a gym fitted with the latest Technogym equipment ensures wellness at sea, while a wide promenade stretching 100 meters offers leisurely daily walks with the sea breeze on one’s face. Every inch of Ahpo speaks of masterful design, exotic woods, intricate mother-of-pearl, bespoke carpets, hand-painted wallpapers, and carefully selected stones all combine to create an atmosphere of refined luxury. A nature-inspired spa, a beach club, and an IMAX theater with a starlit ceiling complete the lifestyle offering, alongside a forward helideck and a crew of 36 professionals.

Step inside and the drama only builds, a central staircase sculpted as an olive tree and a grand dining room inspired by water lilies cement the first impression. The rest of the yacht reveals itself room by room, each detail reinforcing her stature as a true masterpiece. Powered by twin 4,352 HP MTU engines, Ahpo reaches a top speed of 18 knots and offers a range of 6,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots.
