Fishes beware, as Project 406 is one step closer to becoming the world’s largest and most luxurious sportfish yacht. The 171-feet sportfish yacht has exhilarated people at the Royal Huisman shipyard as its aluminum superstructure has joined the hull. Not just the team but even the experienced yachtsman and passionate fisherman who has commissioned this iconic boat that’s already earned a reputation of being a “sportfisher on steroids.” Dutch studio Vripack has designed this glorious boat to look good and mean serious big fishing business. They are also responsible for the project’s naval architecture and interiors.

While the towering six decks packed with luxurious amenities take care of those accompanying the fishermen, the long bow, high bulwarks, and a low and uncluttered fishing cockpit ensure a seamless fishing experience. Not one to take the sport lightly, the headquarters in Vollenhove was attended by the owner’s team, naval architects, designers, and specialist consultants.

The sportfish superyacht boasts excellent additions such as laser-powered exterior lighting and a Sky Lounge. The fourth-level viewing deck doubles up as a lounge by night to take in the stunning star-lit views (let’s not forget the laser-powered exterior lighting illuminating the yacht). This space is the perfect viewing platform for guests, much like a theatre, to witness all the action below for those not participating.

“Royal Huisman has built its reputation by fulfilling the most ambitious and challenging dreams of its clients,” commented Royal Huisman CEO Jan Timmerman. “We create yachts of extraordinary individuality, with unrivaled levels of craftsmanship and reliability. So it is a privilege to be selected by the owner’s team to realize this unique sportfish superyacht. We look forward to our next meeting when we celebrate the launch of the finished product. Project 406 will be another masterpiece of creativity, innovation, and expertise. And always, uniquely, an individual Royal Huisman motoryacht.”

The Royal Huisman website revealed fit-out of the remaining four decks is now underway. The shipyard also tirelessly works on the board systems and other technical installations. “This is an exceptional brief,” added Vripack co-creative director Bart M Bouwhuis. “And the result is an exceptional boat. Project 406 is a sportfisher on steroids. It has the true proportions and long flaring bow of a typical American sportfish boat paired with the harmonious feel of a luxurious superyacht. It’s a supersized model with super chic curves, realized on a grand scale,” said Bouwhuis.

Project 406 is expected to hit the high seas next year on what could be the most exciting fishing expedition on the world’s largest sportfish yacht.
