Forget basketball courts, this 289-foot superyacht boasts a transforming pickleball arena. It also features a luxe observatory suite, a Jacuzzi beach club, a private aft terrace, and a helipad

The Italian Sea Group has unveiled the first glimpse inside the under-construction 289-foot Project Spyder, and my immediate thought was: What’s in a name? With a name like that, one would expect a sleek, aggressive machine. Its exterior delivers on that promise, with sharp silver lines and a dark-hued hull exuding power.

But step inside, and the contrast is striking, yet delightfully so. Far from a design inspired by its namesake, this five-decker is warm, inviting, and drenched in soft beige and pastels, bordering on a dollhouse aesthetic. A surprising choice? Perhaps. But undeniably breathtaking in its minimalistic charm, especially in an era of over-the-top builds like the $300 million Kaos and $360 million Kismet.

Sold in 2023 through Kitson Yachts to an affluent American family, Project Spyder was designed to impress, with Espen Øino crafting the exterior and FM Architettura curating its elegant interiors. Its 3,000 GT of space is packed with features, starting with a 34-foot-long swimming pool, where glass floor segments channel natural light into the expansive 1,076-square-foot beach club below.

Like a spider’s many legs, Project Spyder offers multiple ways to captivate its guests. The foredeck transforms into a sports court for pickleball or basketball, while a serene observatory suite doubles as a children’s playroom. The sundeck is an indulgent escape, boasting a fully equipped gym and Jacuzzi, while the beach club invites relaxation with its massage room, spa, and bar.

Accommodating 18 guests across nine sophisticated staterooms, including a master suite on the bridge deck with a private aft terrace, every inch of this superyacht serves a purpose, and then some. The foredeck helipad ensures seamless arrivals, while a dedicated garage brims with an arsenal of water toys. “When designing a custom yacht, great design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about overcoming the limitations of standard market options and creating something truly unique for each buyer,” says Michael Tabor, Co-Founder of Kitson Yachts. “Our goal is to make the investment feel completely worthwhile. You see other yachts out there and think, You paid how much for that? We want to change that narrative by unlocking more possibilities for our clients.”

As for the performance of this stunning Spyder, it will feature diesel-electric propulsion, with its first test run set for just before delivery in 2027.
