Ryan Reynolds might have cruised on a $6,000 Vespa in Deadpool, but in reality, he’s a die-hard motorcycle enthusiast with a $120,000 electric bike in his garage—after the makers of the world’s first electric superbike turned him down.

You may have seen Ryan Reynolds, as Deadpool, astride a $6,000 Vespa Primavera in the sequel to the original bad-boy superhero movie, Deadpool 2. You may have also seen Reynolds slicing through traffic on an $18,000 Triumph Speed Triple in The Hitman’s Bodyguard. Both those times Reynolds had the help of stunt double for all the scooting/motorcycling around, but the Hollywood actor is quite the motorcycle enthusiast, and veritable gearhead, in real life.

Ryan Reynolds’ car and motorcycle collection spans everything from a ‘60s Mercedes-Benz SL, and a $500,000+ Lamborghini Aventador, to a Nissan Leaf EV and a Tesla Model S. While his cars are pretty run-of-the-mill stuff, for someone with a net worth over $350 million, with the exception of the V12 Aventador and the timeless SL, Ryan Reynolds’ collection of motorcycles is somewhat more impressive and cherrypicked.

As Reynolds says, “When I’m in a car, I can’t wait to get there. When I’m on a bike, I can’t wait to not get there”, proof that he gets the allure of being on two-wheels. Reynolds’ motorcycle collection, a passion he started indulging in when he was just 15-years-old, spans custom cafe racers, classic Ducatis, Hondas and Triumphs, and a very special electric motorcycle called the Arc Vector — special because it costs $120,000 and because Reynolds’ endorsement of the company ended up filling Arc’s order books! It’s all a very different story than the first time Ryan Reynolds tried getting his hands on an electric motorcycle though…

The actor, who got his break in Hollywood in the TV sitcom Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place in 1998, followed by National Lampoon’s Van Wilder in 2002, honed his characteristic man child charm since, leading up to the Marvel antihero blockbuster Deadpool in 2016.

Mission R electric superbike

This is around the time that Reynolds was blown away by the Mission R, an electric superbike with 163 horsepower and an unreal 133 lb-ft torque — groundbreaking for 2012. The actor was so impressed it’s said he gave Mission Motors a blank cheque and asked for one to be made for him, but the company turned him down. Bummer, because Mission Motors turned belly up in 2015, being unable to find a market for the estimated six-figure electric superbike.

The Arc Vector Founder’s Signature Edition

Fast forward to 2023, and there’s a market for a six-figure electric motorcycle. However small it may be. Arc Vehicle, the company behind the Vector recently announced a two-unit run of a Founder’s Signature Edition variant as an exclusive debut into the North American market. The Arc Vector Founder’s Signature Edition is said to cost a fair bit more than a base Vector’s $114,000 asking price, but the fact that the company’s confident enough that it will sell speaks volumes.

Ryan Reynolds is all smiles when taking the delivery of his Arc Vector Motorcycle.

And that confidence is thanks to Ryan Reynolds endorsing the Arc Vector on social media, leading to a flood of interest for the bike and the company. The company claims interest in the bike shot up 1,200% after Reynolds talked about it, and it even led to quite a few orders being placed. Of course, that’s the power of the actor’s 53 million plus Instagram followers.

The Arc Vector is quite unlike any of the conventional motorcycles that Ryan Reynolds owns — it’s based on a monocoque chassis and uses everything from carbon fiber to hemp in its construction. The Arc Vector blazes the 0-60mph run in 3.1 seconds, and can hit a top speed of 120mph, with a claimed range of 271 miles.

That makes it the quickest bike in Reynolds’ collection, which also includes a custom 2015 Triumph Thruxton by Kott Motorcycles, a custom 1964 Triumph 650 built by The Factory Metal Works in honor of Reynold’s hometown in Vancouver, Canada, a limited-edition 2006 Ducati Paul Smart 1000LE, a BMW R nineT, and a Triumph Bonneville.

All of which he can be seen regularly riding on around New York, where the actor lives. Unlike some celebrities who’s on-screen persona is far more skilled than off-screen, it really does seem Ryan Reynolds has managed to reverse the roles.
