Mining tycoon’s 274-foot hybrid superyacht has more battery power than 8 Tesla Cybertrucks combined. On sale, the stunning Savannah rivals five-star hotels with its gorgeous suites, a spa, video walls, a helipad, an infinity pool, a DJ booth, and a marine observation lounge.

All good things come at a price, and the stellar superyacht Savannah is finally coming down that road after nearly a decade of existence. Unlike other superyachts, Savannah treads its own path, a designer one at that. It evokes emotion, commands reaction, including one where the jaw drops, and is the perfect representation of money and taste. Savannah has joined the market for the first time with Robert Shepherd of Edmiston. The 274-foot Feadship vessel, delivered in 2015, will be standing proud at the Monaco Yacht Show with a price on request. With its amazing interiors by Cristina Gherardi Design of Paris and a major refit in 2020 that cost upwards of $9 million, it won’t be cheap. Read on to learn more about the features that caught our eye on one of the world’s first eco-conscious superyachts.

Savannah grabbed eyeballs and awards.
The beautiful Feadship boat scooped three ShowBoats Design Awards, a World Superyacht Award in her category, and the coveted Motor Yacht of the Year award, deservedly so. The Parisian design studio gave her interiors that are rarely seen in hotels, let alone a ship. One of the primary reasons Savannah is one of the most spectacular vessels afloat is her classy master bedroom. The luxury vessel, sheathed in metallic sea-foam-green paint, boasts an outstanding master bedroom comprising a wall of glass and a vast oval skylight. The room flaunts a curved fireplace, onyx bathrooms, and no doors except at the entrance to the bedroom.

It is in sync with the designer’s vision to form a connection between the outside and inside at every part of the ship. Speaking of outside, painting the Savannah necessitated 46 personnel, including 21 spray painters, 21 assistants, three managers, and one paint maker. This massive team covered a surface area of 34,445 square feet with 1,200 liters of paint and 1,900 liters of clear paint, per YachtsInternational. It is all in the name of design, and yachting enthusiasts certainly didn’t miss the lackluster white hull and superstructure.

The next marvel was the main saloon and everything that surrounded it. It features plush lounging areas, with five-meter-high video monitors lining the passage between the two saloons on the main deck.

Savannah has one of the most intricate lighting plans, like the light-studded, mirrored ceiling that’s the cynosure in the saloon. In the daytime, it resembles the sea outside, and by night, it turns into an enchanting starry sky.

The main deck also features an infinity pool measuring 30 feet, inlaid with an abstract mosaic painting. The ship has several other interesting additions like a gym, a spa and Hammam, a DJ station, and a barbecue on the sundeck.

The Nemo lounge. Image – Y.co

There is also the famous Nemo Lounge that doubles up as a cinema in a semi-submerged hull of Savannah that is as safe as it is stunning, providing a view under the surface of the sea like no other. Stadium-style seating makes the view even more enjoyable from marine life or a classic on the drop-down screen that covers the glass wall.

Still, it is the small things that add life, charm, and fun to the boat; case in point, the oiled rosewood floor that can easily handle wet feet or the silk-like fabrics on the sofas that can withstand abuse. Even the lack of straight corridors and staircases makes for a visually compelling masterpiece. Savannah’s rosewood staircase is the linchpin of this fabulous luxury vessel that connects the top deck to the main deck and looks like art compared to glass elevators.

The 274-footer includes a golf driving range, basketball court, and helipad near the owner’s suite. With a 2,414hp Wärtsilä 9L20 4-stroke engine as well as a one-megawatt battery bank, Savannah cruises the high seas at a speed of 17 knots.

Who owns the spectacular Savannah yacht?
Worth $2.5 billion, Lukas Lundin, a Swedish-Canadian billionaire who founded Lundin Mining Corp., owned the superyacht. At 64, the mining tycoon died in 2022 after a two-year battle with brain cancer. Born into wealth, he started Lundin Mining with his father, Adolf Lundin, in the mid-1980s and was a board member and chairman for more than 25 years. The graduate from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology expanded Lundin Mining into a group of 11 energy and mining companies with a combined market value of $11 billion and 15,000 employees spanning the globe, according to Bloomberg. Lundin also founded Lucara Diamond and acquired the AK06 kimberlite in Botswana. In addition to the yacht, Lukas owned a house in Vancouver and lived with his wife in a large mansion on Lake Geneva, Switzerland.
