At $5.5 million, the U-Boat Worx Super Sub is the world’s fastest personal submersible and is designed specifically to keep up with the fast-paced bottlenose dolphins. Offering unobstructed views, the vessel has enough supplies to stay underwater for 96 hours.

Dutch submersible manufacturer U-Boat Worx has revealed its newest underwater luxury vehicle at the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show which is being touted as the fastest private submersible ever conceived. Called the Super Sub, the new sports submersible by U-Boat Worx offers unmatched levels of speed, agility, and depth capabilities, putting it into a class of its own. Originally introduced in 2021, the Dutch company has finally revealed a fully functional, life-size version of the Super Sub at the Monaco Yacht Show. In addition to high performance, the luxurious submersible also packs state-of-the-art technology and industry-leading safety features, making it the perfect exploration toy for thrill-seeking billionaires.

The highlight of the new U-Boat Worx Super Sub is the astounding speed it can attain underwater. It features the best-in-class propulsion system with four powerful thrusters that deliver an impressive 100 kW of thrust, enabling it to reach speeds of up to 10 knots. Just to put that into context, the Super Sub is not only 7 knots faster than the average private submersible but also 3-4 knots faster than a bottlenose dolphin. Furthermore, its design and rudders make the submersible extremely agile. The submersible can ascend and descend at inclines of up to 45 degrees and execute rapid banking turns. As a result, it can effortlessly follow large marine creatures like dolphins, sea turtles, and even sharks.

Distinguished by a long tail and advanced wing design, the Super Sub is claimed to be the most hydrodynamic sub on the market. In addition to its super impressive top speed, the luxury submersible can dive to depths of up to 300 meters, which is significantly more than other comparable private submersibles. It also features a crystal-clear, fully acrylic pressure hull at the front, which promises a completely unobstructed 360-degree view of the outside. Things like the ballast tanks, batteries, and other components are hidden from the passengers’ sight so that they can focus on enjoying the underwater world.

A long list of industry-leading safety features
Super Sub’s debut comes only a few months after the tragic accident of the Titan, a deep-sea submersible designed to explore the Titanic wreck, which killed all five people on board after suffering a catastrophic implosion. Obviously, the incident has had a terrible effect on the personal submersible industry, scaring away potential buyers. However, U-Boat Worx has made sure it highlights all the state-of-the-art safety features of the Super Sub which make it one of the safest luxury submersibles. It is equipped with something called maximum depth protection, which prevents the submersible from going beyond its certified depth of 300 meters. The watercraft is capable of automatically raising itself until it is back within the required depth limits.

Furthermore, the Super Sub features a Safety Buoy setup which pinpoints where the watercraft is when it comes up to the water’s surface. It also helps to float back the submersible to the surface quickly if something goes wrong. In addition to that, there are enough supplies onboard to keep the occupants alive for at least 96 hours in case of an emergency situation. The U-Boat Worx Super Sub starts at 5.2 million euros (about $5.5 million). The Super Sub on display at the Monaco Yacht Show will be delivered at the end of 2023, while the next unit is scheduled for delivery in October 2024.
