Superyachts continue to gain popularity, with new designs being invented every now and then. And the latest on the block is designer Yeojin Jung novel print of a split hull design that is directly influenced by cantilevered architecture.
Christened Estrella, the luxe yacht resembles the Y-Wing Fighter from Star Wars and is most clearly like no other vessel of its kind. It is specially crafted for ultra-high net worth individuals and comes with a split-hull design that divides the yacht into the main component and two floater components on either side, much like a seaplane.
And while one would think that the trio of hulls would make the yacht more robust, it is, in fact, the other way round. The design though luxe, is said to pose certain stability issues to counter which, Jung has befitted the vessel with separate stabilizers on the ship as well as on the individual side-hulls.
The spilt hull aesthetic however allows the yacht’s passengers and occupants to admire their view from multiple vantage points and also sea gaze in style! Winner of the A’ Design Award for the year 2021, the Estrella Superyacht is currently a mere concept, but here’s hoping it blooms into reality soon!
