Mankind is also moving backward, a certain sect at least, called the nudists. Their religion is naturism, and they prefer walking around stark nude, with not a care in the world. So much that, in Paris, where the expression of art in all forms is taken very seriously (nudist too), is set to open an official nude park – possibly ‘near a lake, in a regulated setting with no threat to public order’. It is expected to open by next summer. The city currently has a pool that allows nudity three evenings a week. But people have requested more space to roam around ‘free of clothes’. It is a common haunt for members of the Nudist Association of Paris (ANP) which has some 372 people now. I don’t mean to be a prude, but really? What is the purpose of wanting to roam around naked? Why is it difficult to do so in the comforts of your own home?
Paris, however, forbids public nudity unless it resorts to specific areas. The penalty goes up to 15,000 Euros or up to one year in prison.
