To attract investors for his ambitious Neom City, Saudi Crown Prince MBS has unveiled 2 million photos of the project on a public website. The world’s largest construction site will now have 563 cameras and 300 drones to document the progress.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman clearly believes that a picture is worth a thousand words—especially when you have 2 million of them! In an effort to quash skepticism and reassure investors about the progress of the $1.5 trillion Neom project, the “Ground X” initiative has been launched as tangible proof. This platform offers live feeds of construction sites, detailed project timelines, and a “progress library” for each Neom zone, including the seahorse-shaped luxury island Sindalah, the futuristic city The Line, and the ski resort Trojena. Transparency is indeed the name of the game.

Skift first reported on the project following Neom’s job posting for a “PMO Specialist” to join the Ground X team. While a series of progress videos have been actively shared on social media, Ground X seems primarily investor-oriented, catering to those who have billions of dollars at stake.

It’s worth pointing out that fans, admirers and critics of Neom cannot access the password-protected Ground X website. The public version reveals that 452 time-lapse cameras, 63 live cameras, and over 300 drones are active across Neom, capturing two million photos and 70,000 videos.

If this doesn’t scream credibility, then what does? It’s clear that maintaining investor trust is crucial, especially as rumors frequently swirl around the project’s progress.

A Neom spokesperson told Skift, “We do have GroundX, it’s like our in-house content studio. Investors and anyone granted access can see live developments of key assets.”
