Qatar will introduce double beds to business class cabins across its fleet

Following Etihad Airways’ announcement of new services, products and pricing comes the news that Qatar Airways plans to introduce a new seat to its business class cabins next year. Qatar, Emirates and Etihad have been racing to provide the most luxurious services to their premium customers and each new high end offering trumps the last.

According to Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker the new seat will feature double beds in business class cabins and Qatar will have proprietary rights over it. Qatar Air keeps the focus on business seats as the product is now offered across its fleet unlike first class berths which are restricted to 10 Airbus Group NV (AIR) A380s.

Al Baker also stated that the Hamad International Airport in Doha, which was built to the specifications of Qatar Air will provide new free amenities to economy travelers including Airport Nodes and also child-play, family and sleeping areas, a television room along with Internet zone with free access to Apple Inc. computers and charging plugs. This is certainly good news considering passengers often spend several hours here as they change between planes during the long haul intercontinental journeys which are fast becoming the trademark of Gulf carriers.
