Taj Mahal to Rajasthan – For that dream wedding you can now rent an entire luxury train in India

Destination weddings are all the rage these days and in India, the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation is planning to offer adventurous couples a week-long Wedding on Wheels package aboard the Maharajas’ Express luxury train. The unique experience will not only offer a truly-one-of-a-kind wedding experience but also the wonderful sights and sounds of the country as the wedding party travels through the country.

An officer from IRCTC told the Times of India, “There will be the best of everything, managed by experts to make it one of the most memorable events for the bride, groom and their families. We are finalizing the finer details and will launch these packages on demand. We are hoping it’s a huge success.” The package will court only ultra-rich customers who can afford the Rs. 5.5 crore price tag. A “crore” is equivalent to ten million rupees which is more or less US$150,000 (you could buy a small house for that amount!). For that price, 88 passengers can enjoy the Heritage of India tour which features a trip from Mumbai to Delhi while passing through beautiful places like Ajanta, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Ranthambore, and Agra.

That’s a long journey, but it’s far from arduous thanks to the 24 coach train which is fitted with 43 guest cabins 20 deluxe, 18 junior suites, four suites, and one presidential suite. “We are open to the idea of not only hosting grand weddings but also top-of-the-line corporate events, movie shoots, fashion events, etc. in one of the most luxurious trains of the country,” said Pinakin Morawala, spokesperson of IRCTC, west zone.

After all, your money brings you not just a cool way to celebrate your union, but also a trip across the country through some fabulous and must-see cities. You’re definitely going to want to pin this to your “Dream wedding” Pinterest board!
