There were many Hollywood stars at the 96th Academy Award but the real star of the show was a new Day-Date 40mm in an 18-carat Everose gold build. Rolex’s association with the Oscars goes beyond the Oscar Green Room, proof lies in the soft launch of the timepiece that first made a brief appearance in the video clip broadcasted by the luxury watchmaker before the awards ceremony. What was revealed was a stunning Day-Date 40 in a never-seen-before avatar with a stunning slate gray dial in an ombré effect.
The timepiece is adorned with Roman numerals as hour markers complete with the model’s signature date and date indicators. As goes with typical Day-Date models, the first calendar wristwatch from the brand, the watches come equipped with the in-house caliber 3255, lending a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, according to Rolex. Stellar examples like these are sure to make 2024 a special year for the label that created history in 2023 where sales were concerned.
In its 119-year history, the Swiss luxury watchmaker set new records, with sales reaching a whopping $10 billion for the first time ever. What with them releasing gorgeous timepieces every year, this was hardly surprising news.
