Patek Philippe has released its most complicated timepiece ever in a new iteration – The $2.2 million+ watch now features a beautiful dual-tone case and brown opaline dials

The limited-edition Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime was released in 2014 by the legendary Swiss watchmaker, claiming it to be the most complicated timepiece made since the manufacture’s foundation in 1839. Over the last nine years, Patek Philippe has created several different limited-production iterations of the masterpiece, including a one-off version that currently holds the record for the most expensive watch ever sold.

For 2023, Patek Philippe has introduced a new version of the Grandmaster Chime that presents a new interpretation of its double-face reversible case. Behold the new Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Reference 6300GR-001, the first iteration of the timepiece to feature a bicolor case, which combines white gold and rose gold.

The double-sided case is distinguished by its patented swivel mechanism, enabling it to be worn with either dial visible. Furthermore, the reversible case is adorned with a hand-guilloched hobnail pattern. However, the case is not water-resistant and only offers protection against humidity and dust. The new Grandmaster Chime gets two brown opaline dials with gold-applied Breguet numerals and a hand-guilloched hobnail pattern on the time side.

The Calendar side dial gets 18K solid gold dial plates. The highlight of the timepiece is its ultra-complicated manually wound mechanical movement, caliber 300 GS AL 36‑750 QIS FUS IRM. Similar to all previous iterations of the Grandmaster Chime, the new timepiece has 20 complications. Among them are five acoustic functions, including two patented world exclusives: an alarm sounding the programmed time and a date-repeater striking the date on demand.

The timepiece is worn on a hand-stitched alligator leather strap with square scales and a patinated dark chestnut finish. It is fitted with white gold and rose gold fold-over clasp. The watch is accompanied by matching white gold cufflinks featuring a brown opaline center adorned with a hand-guilloched hobnail pattern and a rose gold Calatrava cross.

The movement.
