Roger Dubuis introduces a trio of flying tourbillon watches in a smaller 39mm case

Swiss luxury watchmaker Roger Dubuis has made its name in the world of Haute Horology with its highly-technical sporty and skeletonized watches that are crafted out of innovative materials. However, all the Roger Dubuis watches are massive in size with an average case size of 45mm. Not everyone can carry off such large watches on their wrists, which means the luxury brand misses out on catering to a sizable customer base. But that’s about to change as Roger Dubuis has introduced its latest Excalibur Spider 39mm collection that includes a trio of incredible watches. It is for the first time the flying tourbillon-equipped models have been realized in a smaller size of 39mm, which opens the door to a whole new set of customers and will give Excalibur a greater reach.

The trio of new 39mm watches include two Excalibur Spider Flying Tourbillons, one each for men and women, along with a colorful Excalibur Pirelli Flying Tourbillon. First up is the EX0815 that gets a black DLC-coated titanium case with rubber inlays, lacquered 10-minute markings on the bezel, and a black rubber strap. In contrast, the more feminine EX0816 features an 18kt pink gold case with a titanium core and white rubber strap. Both the versions are limited to 88 examples each. The EX0817 is a part of Roger Dubuis’ collaboration with tire manufacturer Pirelli and comes with the same black DLC-coated titanium case with bright red accents and inlays. Like other Pirelli editions, the rubber strap for this version is made from used tire rubber sourced from genuine Pirelli race-winning tires. This edition is a boutique exclusive and limited to 28 pieces. All three watches are powered by the same RD510SQ Caliber. The skeletonized manually wound 3Hz movement has a 60-second flying tourbillon at 7 o’clock and offers 60 hours of power reserve. The prices are yet to be released.
