Flowers, fairies, and seasons, Van Cleef & Arpels’ poetic complications collection of timepieces is all things enchanting

Luxury French jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels has proved time and again that no one can match their translations of the beautiful natural world to artificial masterpieces! Since 1906, the Maison has delivered mind-numbing, stunning pieces that enthrall senses and give a new meaning to desire. For the Arpels Heures Florales and Lady Arpels Heures Florales Cerisier watches unveiled at the Watches & Wonder 2022, Van Cleef & Arpels drew inspiration from the father of modern taxonomy, Carl Von Linné. The prominent Swedish botanist and zoologist who was obsessed with designing perfect gardens conceptualized the “Linnaeus’ flower clock,” a garden that would be able to tell time. The Lady Arpels Ballerine Enchantée also brings forth the delicate femininity often found in beautiful flowers. We take a close look at the result of this detailed interpretation and the floral explosion it brings to our wrists:

Lady Arpels Heures Florales Cerisier
This rose gold watch with a 38 mm case brings forth several natural elements of a garden- flowers, butterflies, and branches. Two hundred sixty-six parts featuring blue butterflies, pink and red corollas, and delicate rose gold branches create a miniature painting on a mother-of-pearl canvas. This alluring scenery is further enhanced by white and yellow diamonds that sparkle alongside one another. These diamonds are revealed by the theatrical opening and closing of 12 corollas on an impressive three-dimensional dial. In a nutshell, this iteration brings spring to you and displays its ever-changing beauty with each passing hour.

The Lady Arpels Heures Florales:
This timepiece is a vision in blue hues enclosed in a 38mm white gold case. This bejeweled garden host leaves and flowers in refreshing blues and greens that look ethereal against the subtle white mother of pearl background. The breezy tone hues are accentuated with dazzling yellow jewels and gold branches. The delicate gold elements feature in the scenery like rays of sunshine, unwrapping the beauty of the flowers. Much like the world outside that never looks the same, Van Cleef & Arpels emulate the evolution with a changing sequence of bouquets that succeed one another from hour to hour. For both iterations, telling the time is completed by a minute display visible in a window on the side of the case.

Lady Arpels Ballerine Enchantée:
Suppose flowers are the most delicate, exquisite thing in the world; The female form is a close second. The Lady Arpels Ballerine Enchantée aces the depiction of the feminine figure of a ballerina by incorporating a sense of fluid movement, lightness, and refinement typical of a ballet dancer. The Lady Arpels Ballerine Enchantée comes in blue and pink versions, white and rose gold. The two iterations flaunt the dancer’s silhouette between a halo of diamonds. The headdress, face, bust, and waist are also offered in diamonds. She comes alive when she dances and transforms into a butterfly. The colored frills of her tutu rise as if two openwork wings and are impressively superimposed with an effect of transparency.
