Sorry Jerry Seinfeld, the title of the last air-cooled Porsche 911 to leave the factory goes to this immaculate 993 Turbo that’s expected to fetch over $1 million at auction

Actor and comedian Jerry Seinfeld is one of the world’s largest Porsche collectors. There are around 43 Porsches, give or take a few, in Jerry Seinfeld’s car collection of over 150 cars total, valued at $100+ million. It’s also widely known that Seinfeld took delivery of the last air-cooled Porsche 911 to come off the production line, a Porsche 993 Carrera 4S. What’s perhaps not as widely known is that it’s not the last air-cooled Porsche 911 to leave the factory.

That honor goes to this Porsche 993 Turbo finished in Ocean Blue with matching wheels and brake calipers. The car soon hits the Bonhams auction block and is estimated to fetch between $900,000 to $1.05 million in the sale thanks to its condition and special historical significance.

This particular Porsche 993 was completed on March 27, 1998, the very day Ferry Porsche passed away. Though this particular car was produced just a few days before Seinfeld’s 911 came off the line at the end of the month, it stayed in the factory for another six months with the Porsche Sonderwunsch (special requests) team. The car was ordered by German author Clauss Vanderborg, a friend of Ferry Porsche, who specified the exterior Ocean Blue paint, and interiors in Night Blue leather, with the car phone and rear wiper deleted.

This 993 Turbo is also special since it’s been fitted with the same engine as the more powerful 993 Turbo S with 450 horsepower. The car also received a twin-pipe exhaust, an extra oil cooler, a larger 92-liter fuel tank, and a strut brace.

Vanderborg had specified the car with two commemorative plaques: one in honor of his friend who had passed away the day his car was “born”, and the second in honor of the car’s significance. Despite waiting for his car to be finished, Vanderborg sold it within the year. After which it went on to different collector’s garages before being listed with Bonhams with just 11,000km or 6,835 miles on the clock.
