Forget Wall Street, a Saudi Prince has cleverly doubled his money by investing in a one-off hypercar, the Pagani Zonda Riviera, which soared from $6 million to over $12 million in just five short years

When it comes to the delicate art of collecting cars, there are some tricks to make sure your investment appreciates in value. These include buying extremely rare, limited-production cars, keeping the miles low to preserve condition, and of course, buying a car that other car collectors just can’t wait to get their hands on at any cost. This one-off Pagani Zonda Riviera ticks all the boxes, really.

With just 563 miles on the odometer and the provenance of some of the world’s wealthiest car enthusiasts, this is one exotic that’s paying its owner back big time. Last sold in 2019 for $5.85 million, it’s reportedly been sold for well over $12 million after being listed with German specialist Amian Collection Cars. This would make it one of the most expensive Zondas ever sold.

What’s so special about this Zonda? Like many other Zondas that left the Pagani factory in one form only to be returned and upgraded, this one too has been factory resto-modded in a way. Originally a Zonda F model, it is said Pagani offered the owner the chance to upgrade it to the ultimate Zonda 760 spec with the 7.3-liter AMG-sourced V12 tuned to 750 horsepower.

At the same time, the car received a slew of custom touches to make it one of a kind, including bespoke carbon fiber bodywork, custom paint, and interiors to evoke the French Riviera and that all-important 1-of-1 plaque that makes all the difference.

Delivered originally to a Saudi collector in 2017, this particular car became the first Zonda to be offered up for sale in a public auction in 2019, where a Saudi prince snapped it up for $5.85 million. Considering its rarity, we don’t blame the owners for not wanting to drive it. This Zonda could very well set new auction records when its final selling price is revealed.
