Mark Zuckerberg might just have bought himself a brand new Gulfstream G700 private jet, according to renowned aviation enthusiast and jet tracker Jack Sweeney. The college student from Florida has been monitoring the flights of high-profile figures for several years. He became an online sensation in 2022 after getting into a public dispute with Elon Musk over a Twitter account tracking the billionaire’s jet. After being banned from most social media platforms, the plane-spotter has been using Bluesky, an X.com alternative, to upload flight tracking details of celebrities, including that of Zuckerberg.
Sweeney uploaded a picture of the Gulfstream G700 along with the jet’s flight map, claiming the private plane was recently acquired by the Meta CEO. The jet-tracker also gave several logical reasons for linking the aircraft to the billionaire. The G700 in the picture features a blue and white livery that matches the Facebook-inspired paint scheme of Zuckerberg’s existing G650ER jet.
The N3880 tail number of the G700 is also quite similar to his G650ER, numbered N68885. In addition to that, Sweeney argues that both Gulfstream jets use the same call sign provider, TWY (Solarius Aviation).
Furthermore, Sweeney says the post-delivery flights of the G700 also align with Zuckerberg’s locations – San Jose and Monterey. If Sweeney is right, it will make Zuckerberg the second billionaire to upgrade from a G650 to a G700 over the last few months. You might remember that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos also expanded his fleet with a brand new G700, estimated to be worth $80 million. It was also Sweeney who discovered Bezos’ aging G650 had been put up for sale with an asking price of $38 million.
It will be interesting to see if Zuckerberg also sells his G650ER now that he has acquired the more modern and advanced G700. However, the Facebook co-founder’s long-range jet is extensively used, frequenting airports across California. The aircraft completed 42 flights in the first quarter of 2024 alone and recently flew from Lihue, Hawaii, to Monterey in California. It was originally manufactured in 2021 and purchased by a trust linked to Zuckerberg, which is based out of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
