This pirate gives! Johnny Depp to donate $1 million Amber Heard settlement to various charities

Some Love stories have a happy ending, and some simply end. Curtains are closing on the dramatic divorce battle between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. The Aquaman actress declared on Instagram that she intends to settle her $1 million defamation case with Johnny Depp. The post read, ‘The Instagram post was shared this Monday. “After a great deal of deliberation I have made a very difficult decision to settle the defamation case brought against me by my ex-husband in Virginia,” it starts. “Now I have an opportunity to emancipate myself from something I attempted to leave over six years ago and on terms I can agree to. I have made no admission. This is not an act of concession. There are no restrictions or gags with respect to my voice moving forward.”

On the other hand, Johnny Depp has stated he intends to donate the $1 million to several charities. The Hollywood A-lister made the donation announcement following his recent reprisal of his Pirates of the Caribbean franchise character Capt. Jack Sparrow. The actor will work in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for an 11-year-old boy named Kori, currently in palliative care, per People.

The death of their marriage was live-streamed; it was fodder for the tabloids and a source of entertainment for the world. “We are pleased to formally close the door on this painful chapter for Mr. Depp, who made clear throughout this process that his priority was about bringing the truth to light,” said Depp’s attorneys, Benjamin Chew and Camille Vasquez, in a statement to NPR. “The payment of $1M – which Mr. Depp is pledging and will donate to charities – reinforces Ms. Heard’s acknowledgement of the conclusion of the legal system’s rigorous pursuit for justice.” Johnny Depp will soon be seen on the director’s chair with a biopic on Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani.
