Burberry gets into tech, dresses up a Bluetooth speaker

If you would take something as utilitarian as a speaker and give it to Burberry, you wouldn’t expect sleekness or minimalism of the likes of B&O or Bose. You receive something that would more or less look like a cloaked electrical musician in the corner of your abode. This is probably the best way to describe the Bowers and Wilkins’ T7 Gold Edition Bluetooth speaker that the luxury brand has commissioned. It offers 18-hour continuous playback via Bluetooth.

Some may say that it is just a gold version of the T7 speaker by B&W, but there’s so much more to it. In all the compactness that formed the original brief that the designers may have to work with, they have infused Burberry’s eccentric characteristics, starting with a limited-edition bespoke leather case. This case is available in black embossed bridle leather or tan suede with a gold Burberry logo. The brands have further collaborated to give Bowers and Wilkins’ Society of Sound music streaming service four EPs featuring Burberry Acoustic’s George Cosby, Fenne Lily, Rosie Carney, and Ten Tonnes.

The speaker will be sold in stores across Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shanghai and available in only 200 pieces.
