In redefining the iconic Meisterstück umbrella, Montblanc has recently introduced an assortment of leather goods. Yes, that’s right! The novel collection is unveiled under the direction of Marco Tomasetta, who has previously held design roles at the likes of Prada, Chloé, and Louis Vuitton.
The novel collection is inspired by the brand’s staple writing instruments and presents a series of bags and carry-along options. Each piece is designed with special locations to fit a pen (a Montblanc, of course) and the marquee’s signature curved-star emblem stamped for perfection.
Commenting on it, Tomasetta, in a statement to WWD, said, “I’m hoping you can see there is a bigger emblem present, and the details have the shape of the Meisterstück. All the shapes and lines recall elements of the Meisterstück. Writing is the common thread among all of the products.”
He further added, “The first thing I wanted to do with Montblanc was work with materials that were more supple or avant-garde in order to design new products to protect daily technology and, of course, pens…I wanted to join Montblanc because it has leather in its DNA, and looking back in the archives, they had a pen first, and then came a selection of small leather goods to protect the writing instruments. It’s a tradition.”
On offer are a Neo Briefcase, a Document Case, a Tote and an elegant Duffle, a Portfolio and the Pouch with its distinctive mountain design, a Compact and Long Wallet, two Card Holders, with basic or enhanced functionality, and a Key Pouch, for holding credit cards and small cash besides keys.
Prices for the redefined Meisterstück collection start at $290 for a card case to more than $2,000 for a duffel bag, with the entire ensemble now available on sale online as well as in global Montblanc boutiques. Want to splurge in some leather goodness?
