Not just the Birkin bags even skateboards from Hermes double in value

Last year Hermès made their foray into the world of skate culture with a line of skateboards that featured archival designs from the house. This year, one of those skateboards has surfaced on Moda Operandi where it is being sold as part of a special collection of Hermès goods by Heritage Auctions. The collection also includes a few Birkin bags, a Kelly and some purses.

The skateboard flaunts Hermès’ multi-color Sangles En Zigzag print, an archival design created by artistic director, Henri d’Origny. The beechwood board has a maple wood veneer and is in pristine condition and is sold with its original Hermès packaging.

These boards were originally priced around $2,900, but this one is selling for $6,800 (of which half is a deposit), so it’s more of a collectible than a skateboard that anyone expects you to use. Since the price point has already doubled within a year, it is likely to be worth much more one day, but will it give your Birkins a run for their money as an investment item? Only time will tell.
