Splinter Works Vessel bathtub mimics a hammock

After a long tiresome day, a bath is an apt idea to calm stressed nerves. Many brands have provided their own solutions to this, with a simple bathtub taking fascinating forms as a pool, a shoe, and this unusual solid teak form, among other technologically advanced ones. Adding to this pool of innovation is Splinter Works, introducing its new Vessel bathtub. The form is a unique blend between two symbols of relaxation: one a hammock, and the other, the bathtub. However so, I must admit that I’ve fallen in love with this sleek and creative twist of a bathtub!

Splinter Works has aptly described their creation as the ‘art of relaxation, one that, like a hammock, is a form that hangs slightly above the ground. No, there isn’t any complication behind the ‘hanging’; it’s just that the two protruding ends of the Vessel bath can be fixed with stainless steel brackets onto the wall. The bath can be filled using a floor-standing tap, and the wastewater released through the base into a floor drain. A downpipe drain can also be installed if a wet room setting is not possible.

Stretching 2.7m long, the Vessel has been crafted of carbon fiber, which is utilized for its inherent strength and ability to be formed into complex curves. Beneath the carbon fiber layers lies a foam core, which insulates the tub, meaning the bath stays hot for considerably longer than normal.
