The much-awaited Samsung 55-inch OLED HDTV is soon to set foot in the U.S. You need to just put up for a couple of days longer. Americans who wish to replace their LED or plasma TVs and bring home a new “curved” high definition TV can now contact retailers for order. Although we’ve heard that Value Electronics, a dealer based in Scarsdale, New York, has two new TVs coming on its way, we are unclear on which retailer (in the U.S.) has placed an order for the new OLED. Robert Zohn, the owner of Value Electronics, has quoted $14,999 for the TV, which is inclusive of calibration and delivery charges. Prices for the TV may vary from retailer to retailer. However, we are sure that it wouldn’t plunge below the $13,000 charged in Korea.
For those who aren’t aware of Samsung’s 55-inch OLED TV features, here’s a recap: The highlight in the TV remains its “pure black” shade, the deepest available in any TV technology, which undoubtedly delivers the best picture quality. Another feather in its cap is its inward-curved (concave) screen, which offers perfect picture viewing from various angles. Other features include a built-in camera for Smart interaction, a multi-view function that enables two 2D programs at once using dedicated glasses, and the Smart Evolution Kit.
