The space to do the unthinkable, the unimaginable, and the unprecedented in space is increasing, this time in a lip-smacking fashion. While the eyes are feasting on interstellar views that will be etched in memory, the soul will be satiated thanks to SpaceVIP, which is offering an experience that’s truly out of this world, pun intended. For the first time ever, the US-based luxury space travel company will rope in Michelin-starred Chef Rasmus Munk from restaurant Alchemist to offer a scrumptious setup in the stratosphere.

Your restaurant in space is Space Perspective’s Spaceship Neptune, the world’s first carbon-neutral spaceship, in the company of six like-minded explorers, who will enjoy the amalgamation of geography and gastronomy above 99% of Earth’s atmosphere.

No spaceflight training or experience is required for the voyage, although we suggest it is best if you know how to eat with your mouth closed; the views will certainly make that difficult. Guests will also be treated to made-to-measure outfits by French fashion house Ogier using cutting-edge fabric technology. “In this experience, I want to highlight food as a common thread in our human existence, and it will be truly meaningful to serve it while gazing down at the Earth’s curvature,” Chef Rasmus Munk said in a statement. All proceeds from this expedition will be directed to the Space Prize Foundation, dedicated to promoting gender equity in science and technology.

The six-hour journey that is scheduled to take off in 2025 from the Space Coast of Florida is offered at the price of $495,000 per ticket. The experiences aboard Space balloon Neptune only keep getting better. In addition to the Michelin-starred meal, the balloon comes equipped with what the company calls the world’s first space spa. Despite the limited space, the firm has created a luxurious lavatory complete with plants, plush seating, and Wi-Fi. Till last year, over 1,650 eager customers had already secured tickets, but for some extra money, the meal deal can be yours.

Who is Rasmus Munk?

Born in 1991, Munk is a magician with a spatula who opened the first Alchemist in Copenhagen in 2015. ‘In the same way as the ancient alchemists sought to fuse philosophy, natural science, religion, and the arts to create a new understanding of the world order, the aim of Holistic Cuisine is to redefine and broaden our understanding of the concept of dining,’ said Munk.

Voted as one of the best restaurants in the world, menus cost $700++ per head, and that is excluding drinks.

Simply put, the Alchemist experience consists of up to 50 impressions, where through food, one experiences unique physical spaces and engages their own senses. Additionally, the entrepreneur manages the non-profit organization ‘Junk Food,’ providing meals for those living on the margins of society in Copenhagen since 2018.
