The city of London is set to get its first naked restaurant and you better believe that Londoners are lining up to be a part of the action. The Bunyadi which is slated to open in June this year, will give its patrons the option of clothing free dining. The restaurant hasn’t even opened yet and already thousands of people have been signing up on the official website for the opportunity to dine in the nude. Currently the waitlist is at over 35,000 people!
The restaurant will have separate naked and non-naked sections, the latter of which will feature bamboo and wicker partitions to give the nudists some privacy. Diners can stash their clothing in lockers and don robes which can easily be slipped off whenever they want. The naked area will be illuminated by candles (probably so you can view your fellow naked diners in the most flattering light).
“The idea is to experience true liberation,” said Seb Lyall, the founder of the project, in a press release, “People should get the chance to enjoy and experience a night out without any impurities: no chemicals, no artificial colors, no electricity, no gas, no phone and even no clothes if they wish to.”
Tickets are priced at around $100 per person and include food and drink on a tasting menu. The restaurant will offer both vegan and non-vegan food including meats which will be cooked on a wood flame grill and served on handmade clay crockery with edible cutlery.
The idea of naked dining is far from conventional, and yet the most disconcerting part of the venture is the idea of being naked around open flame candles! Would you shell out $100 to eat in the nude?
