This $17,000 tailor-made coffee table has the silhouette of Aston Martin Valkyrie built onto its surface

Remember the design brand Discommon that in the past has released several unique automobile-themed coffee tables that incorporate the shape of a supercar onto the surface. Well, the company has added the eighth bespoke able to its signature Automotive Icons Table series and it celebrates the absolutely wild design of the upcoming Aston Martin Valkyrie. While the brand chose to use aluminum for crafting the previous automotive-themed tables from the series, this time it went with solid domestic American hardwood blonde-streaked walnut. The infusing the design of the Valkyrie on the wood surface, it is then applied a Rubio Monocoat satin finish and is put on machined aerospace-grade aluminum legs hard-anodized in satin black. “Creating an intricate wooden top design presents a set of completely different challenges to machining a block of aluminum,” Discommon creator Neil Ferrier says. “It not only requires prepping the block of wood in an intelligent way to prevent warping and cracking during the machining process, but also tedious hand-sanding and hand-finishing to maintain the details and curvature of the automotive body.”

Discommon claims that each table requires over 100 hours of effort: 30 hours of 3D CAD modeling, 30 hours of prepping and bonding the wooden block, 27 hours of CNC machining, and finally three days of sanding and finishing to create the distinctive sinuous silhouette of the Aston Martin Valkyrie in wood. If you want one of these beauties to adorn your house, the Aston Martin Valkyrie “Wake” Coffee Table can be yours for just $17,000. But you’ll have to be quick because it is limited to only 10 units.
