Flavio Manzoni has been credited with designing some of Ferraris most remarkable cars, but it’s becoming clear that his most-loved fantasy is something much cooler and more futuristic. Ferrari’s Design Director recently revealed some interesting sketches and 3d interpretations of a Spacecraft that he designed.
His sleek and minimal designs were inspired not only by his work at Ferrari but also by the entertainment and pop culture he enjoyed as a child including ‘Blade Runner’ and ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’, the comic series ‘Flash Gordon’ and TV shows like ‘UFO’ and ‘Space: 1999.
“It all started as a bit of fun,” Flavio Manzoni told Form Trends, “At first it was a sketch, or rather, a series of sketches, then (it developed) into a rendering.” He explained the designs saying, “I tried to imagine something that can fly in the future, since there will be less and less space available on the ground. And I focused on creating a little craft that’s different than my childhood dream, when I thought that a car of the future would slip on a cushion.”
Guillaume Vasseur was credited with realizing the 3D model while Guglielmo “Billy” Galliano worked on the rendering and post production.
