Swipe right if you have a Model S – An exclusive dating app for Tesla owners is in the works

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a profound effect on the dating scene – Tinder boss Elie Seidman chose the word ‘dramatic’. However, dating apps with interest-based matching have generally done better than giants like Tinder and Bumble; after all, it’s always easier to match with people with similar tastes. But, how about an app exclusively for Tesla owners? Given how passionate Tesla owners usually are about their electric cars, there sure will be a lot to talk about. The Tinder substitute for Tesla owners is the work of a Canadian e-commerce entrepreneur named Ajitpal Grewal. With a tagline “Because You Can’t Spell LOVE Without EV”, Grewal says the idea for the Tesla dating app was spawned out of a prank. “To be honest the site was put up as a joke,” he told Mashable over email, “but now that I’m seeing some traction I might consider building out the app to launch.”

Just in case you already trying to search for it on the app store, the Tesla dating platform is yet to launch and there’s just a website as of now where you can enter your email to sign up for early access. Grewal goes on to say that the idea came to him when after hearing from “countless” friends and acquaintances about how much they love their Teslas. “It became a big part of their identity, and they shared a lot of the same values, like wanting to reduce their impact on the environment, stanning Elon Musk, or appreciating high tech,” he told Business Insider. “Suddenly it hit me, these people would be perfect for each other.” It is not endorsed by Tesla in any way and might sound simply absurd to a lot of people, but automakers have been experimenting with the idea of building platforms where its customers can interact with each other. Earlier this year, Rolls-Royce launched its virtual social platform Whispers which is exclusively available for its customers. The website already has over 200 sign-ins, but applicants are required to prove Tesla ownership before joining. Oh, bummer!
