American luxury jeweler Tiffany & Co. is once again in the headlines for their $500 Clothespin. While there is 1% of the planet’s population who perhaps, may consider spending this absurd amount on a Sterling Silver Clothespin, the rest of us may decide to allocate $500 on something a little more valuable.
Thankfully, the $500 pin does come with free shipping so hurrah! Of course, the concept is yet incredibly ridiculous. Who is of the opinion that clothes should be hung with such an expensive commodity, except for those who need to hang their $100 bills somewhere.
On the website, Tiffany & Co. describes the product as “Tiffany artisans transform utilitarian items into works of art. Crafted in solid sterling silver with a Tiffany Blue® accent, this clothespin can be used to display photos or mementos and is a whimsical addition to the home”; and here I’m thinking that if I run to the nearest supermarket, I may find a clothespin under USD 2 to showcase my photos and mementos.
In May, Tiffany & Co. Had unveiled their $350 rose gold vermeil straw for our environmentalists – though even an environmentalist would know better than to spend such a staggering amount on a straw.
