It is no joke to buy a property in London! And proving so yet again is a listing of a one-room flat that is situated in the western part of the city, overlooking Harrods. It is currently on sale for a whopping $2,07,435 (approx.) and comes without a bedroom and bathroom! Yes, that’s right!
Located in Knightsbridge, one of the poshest areas of London, the house commands the whopping sum for overlooking the capital’s prestigious Harrods department store and Hyde Park. However, it spans all of 89sqft and is a tad bit small, to say the least.
Although the new regulations ban property developers from building homes smaller than 400sqft, the flat was first leased in 1976 and used as residential accommodation before the minimum space standards coming into effect. It is therefore not in breach of applicable laws but has received flak for its sheer price.
Commenting on it, Thangam Debbonaire, Labour’s shadow housing secretary, said, “This outrageous advert is evidence of a broken housing market and shows why we need more truly affordable homes.” But hey, the home comes with heating and hot water included in the service charge, if that counts!
