While centibillionaires continue to be in a race to top each other (Jeff bezos became the world’s richest man worth $201 billion surpassing Musk and Arnault), their boats seem ignorant and are moored in close proximity. Tech tycoons Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos are both owners of stunning superyachts $300 million Launchpad and $500 million Koru respectively that are followed by support vessels $30 million Wingman and $75 million Abeona. The billionaires may be apart on the billionaires index but their support vessels are a vision next to each other at Fort Lauderdale.
eSysman SuperYacht shared video footage of the Damen Yachting boats in all their glory, and while the vessels are quite spectacular on their own, one can only imagine their grandeur when sailing with the motherships. The video featured superyacht ‘Launchpad,’ which is apparently owned by Zuckerberg and is awaiting his arrival, complete with the name on the stern. Close to it was the Wingman support vessel which was formerly called Dapple Yacht and was owned by gaming billionaire Gabe Newell. The founder of Valve Corporation turned Dapple into a mobile hospital during the pandemic.
He outfitted the 220-foot ship with features that made it a full-fledged hospital which means there must’ve been observation rooms, procedure rooms, stock rooms for medical supplies etc., in addition to craft for heli-operations, submarine operations, a fully equipped dive center with an integrated decompression chamber.
Bezos’s Abeona measuring 247-feet on the other end costs double with a $75 million price tag and is larger with a volume of 1,900 GT, compared to ‘Wingman,’ which has a volume of 1,100 GT.
Abeona, named after the Roman goddess who presided over the departure of travelers, can cruise 5,000 nautical miles on a single tank. She comfortably accommodates 45 people, including crew, guests, and specialist staff which is also nearly double of Wingman’s capacity to sleep 26 people including crew. Abeona Yacht supports $500 million Koru, the world’s largest schooner and features a helicopter hangar that can accommodate an aircraft with a D-value up to 14. It also carries an arsenal of toys and tenders that would put any Wingman to shame!
