It’s every gearhead’s dream — get behind the wheel of a supercar and drive as fast as it can go. For one very young gearhead, that dream is a reality thanks to his father. Zayn Sofuglu, the 5-year-old son of Turkish motorcycle racer Kenan Sofuglu, has just driven his dad’s $700,000 Lamborghini Revuelto to the highest speed any toddler has ever driven. The video went up on Zayn Sofuglu’s Instagram account, which has over 3.5 million followers. Of course, the fastest child in the world managed the feat on a closed-off airstrip, under the watchful eye of his dad in the passenger seat.
The video shows the 5-time Supersport World Championship winner Kenan helping Zayn get on his safety equipment, including a full race suit, balaclava, and race helmet. If you were wondering how a five-year-old even managed to reach the pedals, again it’s his father to thank here. Kenan Sofuglu outfitted his 1,015 horsepower Revuelto with pedal extensions and has made a custom car seat for his son to be able to reach the controls of the hypercar.
It also takes some serious faith in your child, which Kenan seems to have plenty of. Because it isn’t Zayn’s first taste of a high-horsepower car, having piloted plenty of his father’s supercars. He was even doing donuts in a 769-horsepower Ferrari SF90 when he was just three years old!
The kid’s skill and wisdom behind the wheel go beyond his years, and it’s apparent in the video. You can see the total concentration on Zayn’s face as he ups the speed, and bangs off gear after gear with the Revuelto’s paddle shifters. Remember, this is a hybrid V12 supercar with over a thousand horsepower, one that does 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of 217mph.
As anyone who’s ever driven a high-horsepower supercar will tell you, it’s not easy to keep one under control under full throttle, even on a straight road. The rate of acceleration itself is something that takes getting used to, since the body experiences well over 1g of force under full throttle starts in something like the Revuelto.
Zayn, however, looks as calm and collected as any pro-race driver would if they were behind the wheel. He keeps his foot on the gas till the car touches 194mph and only then lets off the throttle pedal. He even double-checks his rearview mirror before he brakes, only then accepting his father’s outstretched hand in congratulations. Zayn then pilots the Revuelto back to the start line where a crowd awaits and pulls off some big, smoky donuts in celebration. The look of joy on the kid’s face is priceless.
Zayn Sofuglu is already quite the star on social media, with his parents running his Instagram page and capturing all the cool stuff this kid gets to do in cars, ATVs, karts and motorcycles. If there ever was a doubt as to who the award for Father of the Year would go to though, it’s just been settled.
