A 45-year-old Canadian billionaire who runs a waste management company is selling his family-focused, 377-foot-long superyacht for $370 million

“A new year, a new owner” could well be the mantra for AHPO, the floating palace. It’s puzzling why anyone would part with an asset this gorgeous. But then, one can trust the instincts of billionaire Michael Lee-Chin, who moved to Canada at 19 with little more than determination and ambition. He worked odd jobs like landscaping to fund his civil engineering studies at McMaster University, and later flipped the 377-foot, six-deck Lürssen masterpiece for a handsome profit, buying it for $300 million and selling it for $362 million.

Ahpo was then snapped up by Patrick Dovigi, CEO of Green For Life Environmental (GFL), a Canadian waste management company, and a former hockey goaltender. Along with a change in owners, the superyacht has also seen a fair share of name changes.

Originally named Ahpo, meaning “grandmother” in a Chinese dialect, the vessel was delivered just in time to celebrate Lee-Chin’s mother’s 89th birthday in 2021. When she was sold in 2023, the floating palace was briefly renamed Lady Jorgia.

However, according to Instagram account The Yacht Writer, the yacht reverted to its original name, complete with sentimental details like a table engraved with a map of Jamaica, an homage to her original owner’s heritage. Yet, change seems to be the only constant when it comes to this award-winning motor yacht.

Now listed for a jaw-dropping $370 million, Ahpo has seen her value steadily climb, first acquired for $300 million, then resold for $362 million, and now positioned as the most expensive superyacht currently on the market at $370 million.

Clearly, once owners have experienced her extravagant offerings, a flamboyant owner’s suite, a nature-inspired spa, a beach club, an IMAX theater, and stately guest cabins, they feel confident asking more than they paid.

Boasting a gross tonnage of 5,257, Ahpo features a warm swimming pool, a vast beach club with a sit-up bar and waterside lounge, a 12-seater cinema with a starlit ceiling, and a protected winter garden that can be enjoyed in any weather. Every room includes touches of green that invigorate the soul even during long stints at sea. The highlights? A central staircase depicting an olive tree and a grand dining room inspired by water lilies.

Powered by twin 4,352 HP MTU engines, the Ahpo yacht reaches a top speed of 18 knots and offers a range of 6,000nm at an economical 12 knots, or 4,700nm at cruising speed (14 knots). She is listed as a joint central agency between Edmiston and Moran Yacht & Ship. With beauty, power, and pedigree, Ahpo isn’t just a yacht; she’s a statement waiting for her next visionary owner.
