After becoming the epitome of inertia following its seizure in February 2022, Alfa Nero has now transformed into a symbol of rapid development. In a contrasting state of events after being moored and motionless in Falmouth Harbor for over 24 months, the Oceanco beauty was not only sold in July this year but is also gearing up to be officially relaunched on the market during the Antigua Charter Yacht Show in December 2024. Those aware of her many amenities and a long line of luxuries will be glad to learn that the $120 million yacht that sold for a mere $40 million will cruise the Caribbean and the Bahamas and be available in the Mediterranean for the summer of 2025 season.
Before it hits the charter market, the charm will be restored with a refit, reportedly at a Turkish shipyard, as the new owner is speculated to be a Turkish billionaire. Brokerage firm Northrop & Johnson confirmed Alfa Nero’s impending revival in a statement to Boat International. The motoryacht is undergoing a sea of changes, from renewing all the machinery, cleaning the air-conditioning ducting, carpets, and upholstery, recaulking the decks, polishing the marble and wood, and servicing the laundry, galley machines, and guest and crew elevators.
While all this development takes place simultaneously, the vessel is already available for charter at $812,500 a week, and finally, its incredible interiors, fancy features, and amazing amenities will be put to good use. The Art Deco-styled ship, featuring interiors by Alberto Pinto, includes an infinity jet pool with a glass waterfall that can convert into a dance floor or helipad at the touch of a button.
The vessel sleeps 12 guests across six suites, decorated lavishly with materials like rare marbles and hardwoods, rich leathers, and the most outstanding furnishings. The master suite is the most extravagant area aboard the luxury vessel, and it has a private deck and spa pool. It is safe to assume that despite a significant refit, the charisma of Alfa Nero will remain unchanged.
Alfa Nero’s central agent, Nicole Terry of Northrop and Johnson, said, “It’s somewhat poetic that Alfa Nero will be relaunched to the global charter market here [in Antigua] as it had become such a part of the island’s skyline. As a broker attending the show over the last couple of years, we all walked past Alfa Nero’s iconic aft pool and that sign. Every broker was “peaking over the fence,” curious about this icon and what had become of her.”
