With a starting price of $3 million, the Aston Martin Valkyrie is squarely placed in the segment of ultra-expensive automobiles that are practically earmarked for the richest of the rich. The customers who have shelled out millions of dollars on an adrenaline-pumping hypercar won’t really be bothered about the steep ownership cost of such expensive toys. However, if a purported service schedule chart of the Valkyrie leaked on Facebook is to be believed, it’s going to be outrageously expensive to maintain the 1,139 hp track weapon. The alleged service bulletin that was uploaded on Facebook by a page named The Automobilist claims it will cost almost half-a-million dollars to service the Valkyrie over the course of just three years.
If the rumored periodic maintenance chart is to be believed, the first service comes at 600 miles or 6 months (whichever comes first), which will cost the owner £25,000 (about $33,000). For that money, you can buy yourself an econobox that will get you from point A to B. Next up is the service that’ll be due at 12 months or 3100 miles, which will cost the owner a whopping £85,000 (roughly $111,000). A base Porsche 911 costs the same, which is absolutely crazy. But that’s still not as expensive as the third scheduled service at 6,200 miles (or 24 months) where Valkyrie owners will be allegedly charged £150,000 (around $196,000). Mind you all these prices are without taxes.
The last scheduled service is at 9,300 miles (or 36 months) and the company will charge another £95,000 (about $124,000), taking the total to a mind-numbing $464,000. Just to give it some context, that much money would be enough to buy a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and cover the service costs for 3 years.
It’s important to note that the leaked service schedule chart has not been established to be true. In fact, the British automaker told The Drive that “no official service costs have been announced and all of the prices in the aforementioned Facebook post are speculative.” However, it won’t be surprising if the actual ownership cost of Valkyrie is in the same ballpark.
There have been wild speculations on the ownership cost of a Bugatti Chiron. Renowned car collector Manny Khoshbin has uploaded videos on this topic, comparing the service costs of his Chiron and other rare supercars. But, a YouTube channel by the name of The Hamilton Collection put out a video at the beginning of this year a more realistic breakdown of how much it would cost to own a Bugatti Chiron for a decade. You’ll be surprised that a Chiron owner will only end up paying roughly $100,000 over a decade in maintenance, which looks astonishingly affordable in front of the Valkyrie.
Aston Martin Valkyrie
Named after the Norse mythological figures who guide the souls of Nordic soldiers fallen on the battlefield, it is a limited-production hybrid hypercar built by Aston Martin in collaboration with Red Bull Racing Advanced Technologies. The hypercar uses technology borrowed from F1 and is powered by a hybrid powertrain. It uses a Cosworth 6.5-liter V-12 screams that makes 1,001 horsepower, along with an e-motor which adds in another 141hp. The combined peak output is 1,139hp, which is enough to propel the Valkyrie from 0-62mph in 2.6 seconds. The company will build only 150 coupes and 85 spider versions, all of which have been sold.
Note – The length of the Circuit of Americas is 3.42 miles.
