German tuning company Brabus has revealed a new, more exclusive version of its G-Wagon pickup truck that focuses on packing more performance and offering more space in the cargo bed. Called the Brabus P 900 Rocket Edition “One of Ten”, the high-performance pickup will make its public debut at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show. Just like the previous G-Wagon-derived automotive creations by Brabus, the P 900 Rocket Edition is also based on Mercedes-AMG G63 SUV. Although the German company already offers a pickup version of the G-Wagon called the Brabus 800 Adventure XLP, the newest offering is more road-focused and has been designed to offer supercar-rivaling performance.
Under the hood is a reworked version of the V8 engine from the standard G63 AMG which has been increased in displacement capacity to 4.5-liter from 4-liter. It is also equipped with upgraded forged pistons and a custom billet crankshaft along with upgrading the turbochargers and tweaking the engine management software.
Brabus has also added a new high-performance exhaust that not only helps in extracting more power but also improves the sound made by the burly V8. All the upgrades add up to boost the output to a whopping 900 horsepower, 315 hp more than the stock SUV.
Brabus claims the high-performance pickup has an electronically-limited top speed of 175mph and can accelerate from zero to 62mph in just 3.7 seconds, which is seriously impressive considering it weighs 5,997 pounds.
Beyond the performance upgrades, Brabus has also stretched the wheelbase by 19.7 inches, which has resulted in increasing the space in the bed. The P 900 Rocket comes with a steel truck bed frame with carbon bedsides.
It also features a widebody kit, increasing its width by 3.9 inches. In addition to a plethora of carbon fiber parts and add-ons, the high-performance truck is fitted with specially-designed Brabus monoblock Z 24-inch hi-tech forged wheels that are fitted with aero discs.
The example seen in the pictures is finished in Rocket Grey and features a cabin decked out in black with red accents. The prices start at €649,638 (about $640,000) and Brabus will build only 10 units of the P 900 Rocket Edition.
