Bugatti has joined Lamborghini to become the latest high-end car manufacturer to take a plunge in the ever-growing pool of useless NFTs. The iconic French supercar maker has announced a partnership with British luxury goods retailer Asprey to explore the world of NFT (non-fungible token). According to the announcement, the two brands will soon launch a one-of-one NFT that will be associated with a bespoke sculpture. As of yet, the only information we’ve been given about the sculpture is it’ll be that of a “famous Bugatti model” and will be created at Asprey’s new Digital Studio. Additionally, the brands will also let clients commission their own sculptures sometime in the future, each “fused” with their own unique NFT. The official release goes on to explain that each NFT will unlock special Asprey content and will have a unique NFT Asprey roadmap. Makes sense? Don’t worry, we don’t get it either. In case you need more information or want to buy a Bugatti NFT, you can head to AspreyBugatti.com and apply for an invitation.
A couple of days back, Lamborghini had announced its own NFTs that are linked to pieces of carbon fiber that were sent to the International Space Station as a part of some joint research. In case you don’t know what an NFT is, I’ll suggest don’t go searching for it on YouTube or Google. In all probability, you’ll land on a page that might try to sell you NFTs as the next big investment opportunity or read news bits on how young influencers are making millions of dollars selling the most useless digital assets. Just for the sake of giving you a simplified explanation, an NFT is a unique digital asset stored using blockchain technology and it cannot be replicated.
