Congratulations to the Dutch shipyard Feadship on the birth of a new superyacht. The luxury vessel is a healthy newborn measuring 220 feet and nicknamed Project 823 till the parents (read: owner) decide on a suitable name for the apple of their eye. The yacht garnered attention after leaving the Feadship shipyard in Holland. It is the work of Studio De Voogt on exterior and interior design, and hull engineering is by Azure Naval Architects. Unlike children, yachts can be tailor-made, and the first look proves the owner wanted his pleasure craft to be the picture of strength.
“The main theme of the yacht is strength,” said Jan Schaffers, senior designer at Studio De Voogt. “The radii throughout are larger than usual to emphasize this. At the same time, we aimed to focus on the length of the yacht by creating uninterrupted lines, for instance in the widebody windows and the superstructure. Together this creates a very unique character.” Project 823 looks like a no-frills, no-gimmick, simple, and unquestionably sophisticated creation. That says a lot about the experienced owner, who probably has seen it all in other yachts and desires to own a boat that strictly means business.
Details are scarce at the moment, but we know the elegant interiors are achieved owing to the usage of natural tones, light wood veneers, and organic forms that are as timeless as they are tasteful. Designed and built for an experienced owner as a family yacht, the interior reveals luxury accommodation for ten guests in three lower deck cabins, one VIP suite on the bridge deck, and a master stateroom on the main deck forward.

While it would be an utter pleasure to witness the vessel in all its glory at a yacht show, some aspects of the 220-footer have already amplified anticipation. It is the designated social hub on board, designed in accordance with a central area sheltered by a glass windbreak and hardtop, large side windows to bring in picturesque views, and nine skylights on the overhead. Its standout features include an elevator that makes all decks (presumably four) accessible from the lower deck to the expansive sundeck.

Project 823 will boast a large wellness center, gym, and beach club on the lower deck, everything imperative to maintain health and a regime. According to Feadship, “careful attention has also been paid to the crew quarters and service areas with additional fridge-freezer storage, a large laundry room, and extra dry storage on the tank deck.” The foredeck will be used as tender storage. Sounds like quite a ship coming our way!
