It looks like tech tycoons Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg may not be ready to play the roles of host and guest, but their luxury vessels have already exchanged a nautical nod in Palma de Mallorca. On Monday morning, the Meta owner’s 387-foot Feadship Launchpad, valued at $300 million, crossed paths at the mouth of the Port of Palma with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’s Koru, a 416-foot Oceanco masterpiece valued at $500 million.
Bezos’s majestic sailing yacht is making a brief stop at picturesque Mallorca, per Ultima Hora, before heading to Venice, where the Amazon founder, whose net worth is estimated at $223 billion, will tie the knot with helicopter pilot Lauren Sánchez in June. The three-masted schooner is not only one of the world’s largest sailing yachts but also one of the most elegant, featuring an aft-deck pool, luxe amneities and a dedicated support vessel, $75 million Abeona, complete with a helipad, jet skis, and a tender garage. For now, the lavish yachts of the world’s second- and third-richest men are the crowning jewels of Club de Mar in Palma.
Zuckerberg, who is worth approximately $220 billion, acquired his Feadship beauty last year. Launchpad is a strikingly modern motor yacht with a clean, minimalist design and cutting-edge technology. While the yacht’s interior remains tightly under wraps, it is believed to feature a wellness center, a cinema, multiple decks for entertaining, and an array of water toys.
The Meta CEO has been using his floating asset nonstop, cruising pristine locales, indulging his adventurous side, and spending quality time with family. His purchase coincided with his milestone 40th birthday.
Similarly, Bezos has been regularly using Koru during summers; he even popped the question aboard the ship, and now she is poised for his magnum opus Venetian wedding. Koru is a guaranteed showstopper, often dwarfing every other yacht in the marina with her sheer scale. But crossing paths with another behemoth like Launchpad is truly a spectacle.
Interestingly, this rare yacht rendezvous is just a preview of what’s to come.
The Venice Lagoon is expected to host several more superyachts between June 24 and June 26, as VVIPs from around the world descend on the City of Canals, many likely bringing their floating palaces along for the wedding of the century. According to AIS data, Launchpad is currently docked in Mallorca whereas the Koru has sailed away and is cruising in the coast of France. As the publication cheekily notes, Jeff Bezos’ Koru remained anchored in the bay until late afternoon before quietly heading toward the French coast, almost as if it were trying to avoid further comparisons with its rival.
