As other billionaires had already docked their superyachts, Jeff Bezos’s $500 million megayacht Koru was denied a mooring in Monaco, and, like an ordinary millionaire, the Amazon founder and his glamorous fiancée had to take a speedboat to enjoy the race

Jeff Bezos can buy anything, he is the world’s third-richest man, after all, worth a whopping $220 billion. That said, the Amazon founder couldn’t manage to buy or arrange a parking spot for his $500 million mammoth Koru at Port Hercule, Monaco. The buff billionaire, along with his wife-to-be Lauren Sánchez, attended Formula One’s showpiece event in Monte Carlo. Surprisingly, the power couple chose to watch the adrenaline-pumping race from a balcony rather than aboard their mighty 416-foot Oceanco beauty.

The duo, recently seen soaking up the sun on the world’s largest sailing yacht, likely arrived via speedboat to reach the pit lane and then their VVIP race-watching thrones. As for Bezos’s floating mansion, while it was among the many splendid superyachts present at the event, it was also one of the farthest from the action, likely because its immense size left it without a berth in Monaco’s already-crammed harbor on race weekend.

Port Hercule can accommodate yachts up to 135 meters (443 feet) at its largest berths. The largest yacht docked at the port was Kismet, a 122-meter (400-foot) Lürssen-built vessel owned by Shahid Khan and valued at $360 million.

Other notable presences included Symphony, a 333-foot Feadship superyacht owned by billionaire LVMH boss Bernard Arnault, as well as Lionheart, O’Ptasia, Lady A, and nearly 100 others. The 367-foot Renaissance, like Koru, remained anchored offshore due to its scale.

But even docked far from the high-octane action, these luxury vessels added sparkle to an event that celebrates glamour, wealth, and unbridled opulence, of which superyachts are the ultimate expression. On a lighter note, Bezos probably didn’t consider parking logistics when he commissioned the nearly half-a-billion-dollar boat in 2019. After all, those are plebeian problems, not ones the elite usually worry about.

Meanwhile, Koru, the majestic megayacht with triple masts soaring 230 feet high, has left the Port of Monaco according to Marine Traffic, and is now making the most of the gorgeous Gulf of Genoa, edging closer to the Italian coast as Jeff Bezos’s impending summer nuptials to Lauren Sánchez approach.
