Maserati has teamed up with Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara to create a bespoke version of the MC20 Cielo

Maserati has unveiled its latest venture into the world of luxury customization through a groundbreaking collaboration with Japanese creative powerhouse Hiroshi Fujiwara. The partnership marks a significant milestone in Maserati’s Fuoriserie customization program, introducing a bespoke version of the MC20 Cielo that pushes the boundaries of automotive personalization.

In an unprecedented move for the Italian automaker, Fujiwara’s Fragment Design has been granted permission to replace Maserati’s iconic trident emblem with its signature lightning bolt symbol on the vehicle’s tonneau cover. This bold departure from tradition underscores the depth of creative freedom afforded by the Fuoriserie By series, which invites select tastemakers to reimagine Maserati’s legendary models.

The collaboration has produced two striking variants of the MC20 Cielo: a nero essenza edition featuring a sophisticated matte black finish, and a bianco audace version showcasing an elegant matte white exterior. The interior maintains Maserati’s commitment to luxury with six-way power sport seats wrapped in black leather, enhanced by precise white contrast stitching. A commemorative plate positioned between the seats serves as a testament to this unique partnership, while the retractable smart glass roof offers drivers the flexibility to transform their driving experience at will.

Performance remains uncompromised in this fashion-forward iteration, with the MC20 Cielo retaining its Formula 1-inspired V6 Nettuno engine. Klaus Busse, Maserati’s head of design, emphasizes that this collaboration exemplifies the brand’s vision for customization, encouraging clients to express their individuality through the Fuoriserie program. Fujiwara, often referred to as the Godfather of Streetwear, brings his multidisciplinary expertise as a DJ, musician, and designer to this project, describing the vehicles as “tailor-made garments to be proudly worn along the streets of the world.”

While pricing details are available upon request, this exclusive offering represents a unique intersection of automotive excellence and contemporary design culture, catering to discerning collectors who value both performance and personalization.
