The Mercedes Geländewagen has been around for a long, long time; four decades to be precise. While the interior of the luxury off-roader might have drastically changed, along with the creature comforts, engines, and technology, the boxy-shape of the G-Wagen has remained pretty much identical over the years. The G-Class celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and Mercedes-Benz has introduced a special edition to mark the occasion. Appropriately named “Stronger Than Time” special edition, it includes the G400d, G500, and G63 variants of the luxury SUV. Starting with the G400d and G500 Stronger Than Time editions, both the cars get AMG Line exterior package that includes fender flares, a revised front bumper, and black 20-inch AMG wheels. The running boards, spare wheel cover, and door sills are all adorned with stainless steel highlights. Driving assistance package, LED headlights, Burmester stereo, and sunroof are all included as standard equipment, while the puddle lights display the G-Class logo and “Stronger Than Time” on the ground at night.
The range-topping G63 Stronger Than Time edition comes with dark chrome grille along with matte chrome on the running boards, exhaust outlets, mirror caps, portions of the front and rear bumper, skid plate, and sections of the spare wheel cover. The special edition SUV rides on 22-inch AMG wheels finished matte black. On the inside, the cabin is wrapped in two-tone black and Titanium Grey Pearl Nappa leather with carbon fiber trim. Buyers can also get the optional AMG Trail Package that adds softer settings for the adaptive dampers for better off-road capability. Mercedes is yet to announce pricing and availability.
