Millionaire mattress king from Florida who already owns around 15 Rolls-Royces bought two Spectres just so that he could be the first in the US to have the $420,000 Rolls-Royce EV.

When it comes to crazy rich individuals with the biggest and most outrageous car collections in the world, one name that consistently stays close to the top of the list is that of Michael Fux, aka the Mattress King. The Cuban-born businessman and philanthropist is renowned for his passion for collecting and customizing high-end luxury and exotic cars. His extensive collection includes some of the most unique and exclusively customized vehicles. The newest to join his massive collection is a beautiful example of the Rolls-Royce Spectre – the first-ever production EV by the British luxury carmaker. What makes this battery-electric Rolls-Royce even more special is that it’s the very first one to be delivered in the US.

Fux’s car collection has more than 150 exotic cars, including at least 15 highly-customized Rolls-Royce vehicles. However, the newly acquired Rolls-Royce Spectre is only the third EV to join his fleet. “So now I have three electric cars,” Fux said while speaking to Motor1. “I have this one, the Hummer, and I have a Tesla Plaid.” The Mattress King introduced his new Rolls-Royce to the world by posting several pictures of the ultra-luxurious EV on Instagram.

The exterior is finished in a beautiful but subtle Tempest Grey shade, which is contrasted with a white leather interior with yellow piping. For most of us, the color combination of Fux’s Spectre inside out is absolutely stunning. However, if you know anything about the Mattress King, the Grey Spectre is a little too drab for his liking. So, why did he go for something that’s not flashy? Well, there’s a very interesting reason behind it!

It turns out that in order to become the first person in the US to own a Rolls-Royce Spectre, the British automaker sold him this non-customized example just as a fill-in unit until a completely bespoke version is built for him, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. The caption along the Instagram post reads: “My personal custom spec is coming next year and it will be outrageous. Details coming soon.” Fux is famous for his distinctive taste in automobile aesthetics and color. Many of his personalized vehicles are custom-painted in vibrant, one-of-a-kind hues. One of the most famous cars in his collection is his custom-made Rolls-Royce, known as the “Fux Orange.” It features a bright orange exterior paint job that he personally commissioned to match the color of a tangerine.

In fact, Michael Fux has his 12 named bespoke colors. Back in 2018, he became the first person in the world to take delivery of the McLaren Senna. Delivered to him on a flatbed in Manhattan, it was a spectacle that immediately attracted a big crowd of bystanders. Amongst other unique things about Fux’s Senna, the one that easily stands out is its bespoke green exterior paint, which is thin enough to expose the beautiful weaves of the carbon fiber bodywork. However, the story of how the custom paint was created is even more interesting. When Fux was visiting McLaren’s factory in the UK to customize his Senna, he wasn’t happy with a particular green paint originally developed for the P1. What he did was take off his own green-colored shoe and ask it to be used as a makeshift color swatch. That’s how a new $300,000 paint was created.

In addition to his passion for collecting unique cars, Fux is a well-known philanthropist who has donated several of his customized vehicles for charity auctions, raising significant amounts of money for various causes. The Cuban-born business magnate grew up poor and arrived in the US from Cuba in 1958 with his family when he was 15 years old. He started off by selling used tires and recharged car batteries; however, he found success in the foam bedding industry and became a popular figure in the US, earning him the nickname “ The Mattress King.” Michael Fux has a current net worth of around $400 million, which makes his life one of the most inspiring rags-to-riches stories.
