Built for the purists, the limited-edition Porsche 911 S/T is a light-weight sports car that gets a GT3RS engine with a manual gearbox

Behold the Porsche 911 S/T, a limited-edition model that celebrates the 60th anniversary of the iconic 911 sports car. Created to offer maximum driving enjoyment, the special edition version combines elements from the GT3 Touring and GT3 RS, making it a lightweight, road-focused sports car inspired by the 1969 911 S. Starting with the powertrain, the 911 S/T is powered by the high-revving 4.0-liter flat-six borrowed from the GT3 RS. The naturally aspirated unit produces a peak output of 518 horsepower. Porsche built the S/T specifically for purists; as a result, the special edition is only available with a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox. The German manufacturer developed a new clutch exclusively for the S/T, which along with a single-mass flywheel reduces the rotating mass by 23 pounds.

Designed for back roads rather than race tracks, the 911 S/T doesn’t get the aggressive aero elements of the GT3 RS. Instead, it features smooth bodywork borrowed over from the GT3 Touring, which includes vents on the nose and a small Gurney flap to the active rear spoiler. Porsche has also paid extra attention to making the S/T as light as possible. Everything from the hood to the roof, front fenders, the doors, the rear axle, and even the shear panel are all made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic. Additionally, the special edition also gets magnesium wheels, ceramic composite brakes, a lithium-ion starter battery, and lightweight glass. As a result, the 911 S/T weighs just 3,056 lbs., making it 70 lbs. lighter than the 911 GT3 Touring.

Inside the cabin, the S/T comes with either carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic bucket seats or four-way-adjustable Sports Seats Plus. The interior is upholstered in Classic Cognac cloth with black pinstripes, while buyers can also choose two-tone semi-aniline leather in a mix of Black and Classic Cognac. Furthermore, the 911 S/T is available with an optional Heritage Design Package that draws inspiration from the racing version of the 911 S from the late 1960s and early 1970s.
