If you’ve ever wondered how the uber-wealthy learn how to drive, this driving school in Qatar should have some insights. The Doha Driving Academy is offering its wealthier clients the chance to learn how to drive in luxury cars, right off the bat. Of course, this is a good idea when the learner driver is ultimately going to end up driving a Rolls-Royce, so as to get a feel of the car beforehand.
It goes without saying that learning how to drive in a Rolls-Royce, with the thought of paying for repairs in case of a fender bender, maybe too much for the non-millionaire learner driver. But for most Qatari millionaires, it might just be right up their alley.
The cost of luxury driving lessons is likely not cheap, though a Rolls-Royce customer is not likely to be bothered by it. The Doha Driving Academy charges $1,000 for driving lessons in a Toyota Corolla, going up to $3,000 for driving lessons in a Porsche SUV.
We’d hazard a guess and say driving lessons in a $300,000 Rolls-Royce Ghost would be in the $16,000 range for a mix of theory and 40 practical sessions. The Ghosts the driving academy seems to be using do look like an older model. Going by the design, it does appear to be a 2015 Ghost, which retailed for nearly $300,000 when new but is now available for under $100,000 in the used market.
Despite the lower price of entry, going by previous Rolls-Royce repair videos we’ve come across, a Roller isn’t an easy piece of machinery to fix when something goes wrong. Just the cost of a replacement front bumper, for example, can be as high as $15,000. For most regular people, that’s the entirety of their budget for their first car. But as they say, things are different in Qatar.
