Ace filmmaker Steven Spielberg’s $250 million, 357-foot superyacht Seven Seas, complete with two pools, a helipad, and a cinema, is turning heads in Mallorca, Spain. What better way to toast 50 years of Jaws than afloat on crystal waters?

The world has spent countless hours watching Steven Spielberg’s films. At 78, the legendary filmmaker behind cinematic classics like Jaws and Jurassic Park, with an estimated net worth of $4 billion, is now turning heads far from the silver screen. This summer, the residents and visitors of Mallorca were treated to a different kind of Spielberg production, his $250 million superyacht, Seven Seas. The luxury vessel is cruising through azure-blue waters just as Jaws, one of cinema’s most iconic films, marks its 50th anniversary.

Seven Seas in Mallorca

A true magnum opus, the 357-foot vessel made waves off the stunning coast of Mallorca, famed for its azure waters, dramatic cliffs, and Mediterranean charm. After arriving from Barcelona and Puerto Portals, where it had been docked since April, Seven Seas has been spotted gracefully cruising towards Cala De Deya.

As summer sets in, Spielberg’s floating palace joins the elite lineup of megayachts gracing the Balearic waters. Just last month, the world’s second-richest man, Jeff Bezos, and his soon-to-be wife Lauren Sánchez were spotted in Mallorca aboard Koru, their $500 million sailing yacht, the largest of its kind. Though Seven Seas is a bit shorter than the 416-foot Koru, she is equally awe-inspiring. Built by the renowned Dutch shipyard Oceanco, both yachts share the same rare conflict-tainted teak sourced from Myanmar.

According to Hola!, this is the first time Spielberg’s new superyacht has been seen in the Balearic Islands, with his previous Seven Seas last spotted in the Mediterranean in 2021. The new iteration, manned by his old trusted crew, commissioned in 2022, features a helipad, an outdoor aft infinity pool, a second pool with a whirlpool, a private cinema, a gym with a sauna, and seven luxurious staterooms for up to 14 guests.

A look at the images reveals a blockbuster boat boasting five-star resort-like interiors curated by Molly Isaksen Interiors. From well-designed cabins and serene lounges adorned with large artworks to panoramic windows, floor-to-ceiling glass facades, and multiple hatches, Seven Seas feels more like a seven-star floating sanctuary. The vessel, named after Spielberg’s seven children, is one hell of a looker, and it’s certainly garnering the right kind of attention.

A party in paradise

Fifty years ago, on June 20, 1975, the world got a cinematic shock to the system with Jaws, a film made on a modest $9 million budget that went on to gross a staggering $470 million worldwide. It became the first movie ever to earn over $100 million at the domestic box office, ushering in the era of the summer blockbuster.

While the film terrified audiences, it took an even deeper toll on its director. Steven Spielberg later admitted that the film’s chaotic shoot left him emotionally drained, with post-production anxiety that “bordered on trauma.”

What a fitting way to celebrate half a century of Jaws, aboard a luxurious superyacht, surrounded by calm, azure waters. After all the chaos and hard work, a floating sanctuary sounds like the perfect place to reflect on the legacy of a film that changed cinema forever.
