When one thinks of Steven Spielberg, the three-time Academy Award-winning director worth a cool $5.6 billion, his blockbusters come to mind. The son of a concert pianist mother and an electrical engineer father, Spielberg is synonymous with films like Jaws, E.T., Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, and many more. However, there’s more to this co-founder of DreamWorks Pictures than just his illustrious career filled with the highest-grossing films ever. Beyond his cinematic achievements, Spielberg is a man with several passions, including art, specifically Norman Rockwell’s work, and yachting.
Interestingly, the billionaire has owned a fleet of superyachts called the Seven Seas. His previous yacht, the Seven Seas (282 feet), was his pride until 2015. The Hollywood director received his first ship, delivered by Oceanco in 2010, but later sold it for $150 million to Canadian steel billionaire Barry Zekelman (who named it Man of Steel).
Spielberg’s second luxury vessel, another Seven Seas, was a 358-foot ship worth $250 million, named after his seven children. This yacht brought every imaginable luxury onboard, including an impeccable crew.
Speaking of the crew, Spielberg, a gifted filmmaker who humorously failed to get into USC’s film school, not only reused the yacht’s name but also kept the same crew, according to The Yacht Report.
When he sold his old motor yacht, the considerate and respectful employer moved the entire crew from the old Seven Seas to the new one. This decision reflects Spielberg’s admirable behavior toward his team. While it may have been practical, it also showed his appreciation for their dedication.
The new Seven Seas is an impressive 358 feet long and boasts a large swimming pool on the main deck and a spa pool on the sundeck. The 4,444 GT cruiser accommodates 14 guests across seven cabins, with room for up to 30 crew members. Among its amenities are a gym, spa, beach club, helipad, and a tender garage.
A possession of such an accomplished and award-winning filmmaker wouldn’t be complete without a movie theater, and the Seven Seas certainly doesn’t disappoint. With the help of the able crew, who have earned the trust of the environmental activist, maintaining these incredible features has never been an issue.
