Whether it’s the warm embrace of summer or the magical season of Christmas and New Year’s, Jeff Bezos, the centibillionaire, ensures his $500 million megayacht, Koru, is always primed and ready for adventure. As the holiday festivities loom large, it comes as no surprise that this Oceanco masterpiece, stretching an impressive 416 feet, made a glamorous pit stop at the renowned superyacht haven of La Ciotat, nestled along the idyllic coast of Provence.

The stop wasn’t just for show. According to Diario de Mallorca, it was a technical touch-up, a moment to spruce up the floating mansion with its sky-piercing 230-foot masts, before it begins its grand transatlantic journey to Florida. For those in the know, La Ciotat is more than a scenic harbor. It’s a world-class hub for the refit and repair of superyachts, catering to around 150 majestic vessels every year, including nearly 100 that exceed 50 meters in length. Koru certainly wasn’t in ordinary company.

After leaving the prestigious facility in pristine condition, the world’s largest sailing yacht was seen anchored in the serene Bay of Palma. Meanwhile, its ever-reliable support vessel, Abeona, a $75 million marvel in its own right, patiently awaited its mothership in Gibraltar. With Florida as the ultimate destination, Koru is poised to conquer a staggering 4,763 nautical miles, returning to familiar waters.

The journey caps off an unforgettable year for Koru, which has become something of a Mediterranean aficionado. Its maiden voyage began in April 2023, with Mallorca serving as its gateway to the Med’s sparkling treasures. Over the months, the yacht has made countless voyages across the region, indulging in every pristine location the Mediterranean has to offer. Earlier this year, in March, Koru docked at the port of Palma, mooring at the outer docks of the STP shipyards. The journey from the Caribbean island of St. Thomas to Mallorca was nothing short of grand, marking the yacht’s preparation for a dazzling Mediterranean summer season.

But as the year winds down, it’s time for Koru to return to the U.S., ready to hibernate before another year of adventure begins. Of course, the third-richest man in the world, with $217 billion and a penchant for living life to the fullest, along with his lady love Lauren Sanchez, wouldn’t have it any other way.
